Master study after Michaelangelo's sculpture "Pietá"
The original sculpture features Mary mourning over the deceased Christ. It is about one character mourning another. In my interpretation, I had the same model represent both characters for this composite, shifting the narrative toward mourning our past selves as we grow and embrace the required sacrifices.
